Privacy policy
Short version: PermitPrep does not collect personal information from visitors. There is no account system, no email signup, and no behavioral tracking. The longer version below covers the few areas where any data is involved.
Information we don't collect
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses, dates of birth, or any other personal identifier. There are no forms on the site that capture identifying information. We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't allow third-party login. Your study activity on PermitPrep is entirely anonymous and private — even to us.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs that include the IP address making each request, the page requested, and a timestamp. These logs are used solely to debug errors and detect abusive traffic patterns; they are not analyzed for behavioral profiling and are rotated out automatically after a short retention period.
Cookies
PermitPrep does not set first-party cookies for tracking, personalization, or analytics. The site works without cookies enabled. If we ever introduce cookies — for example, to remember your preferred state — we will update this policy and provide a clear opt-out before doing so.
Advertising
PermitPrep reserves a small number of clearly marked positions for display advertising. These slots are present in the HTML as comment markers (such as <!-- ADSENSE_HEADER -->). When ads are enabled, the ad network may set its own cookies and may collect anonymized usage data subject to its own privacy policy. We will name the ad network and link to its policy here once advertising is live. As of today, no ads are loading and no ad-network cookies are set.
Third-party links
Many pages link to official state DMV websites and to other educational resources. Once you click through, you are subject to the privacy practices of those external sites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites.
Children's privacy
PermitPrep is intended for general audiences, including teenage permit applicants. Because we do not collect personal information from any visitor, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by design. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material about how the site handles data, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date below. Substantive changes will also be announced on the home page for at least 30 days.
